X: steam quality


Vf: specific volume of saturated water

Vfg: specific volume increment for evaporation from liquid to vapor

Vg: specific volume of saturated steam

V: specific volume of wet steam, or superheated steam, or compressed water. For wet steam, V=Vf+X*Vfg

Uf: specific internal energy of saturated water

Ufg: specific internal energy increment for evaporation from liquid to vapor

Ug: specific internal energy of saturated steam

U: specific internal energy of wet steam, or superheated steam, or compressed water. For wet steam, U=Uf+X*Ufg

Hf: specific enthalpy of saturated water

Hfg: specific enthalpy increment for evaporation from liquid to vapor

When the app starts, the default Unit System selected is “US”. Click at this “US” button, you will be able to select from three predefined unit systems: 

US, SI, METRIC, and Custom units.

When you make a selection, the corresponding units will be shown in the app’s top 2nd row.

Three predefined unit systems are:

US, SI, METRIC.

SI: T: C, P: MPa, V: m3/kg, U: kJ/kg, H: kJ/kg, S: kJ/kg-K

METRIC: T: C, P: bar, V: cm3/g, U: J/g, H: J/g, S: J/g-K

Custom Unit System

  

To define a Custom Unit System, choose Custom, the Custom Units window will open. It has five dropdown boxes for selecting and/or defining units of pressure, volume, energy/enthalpy, entropy, and temperature individually.

How to Use

1. Select a phase

There are five Phase Selectors at the very top of the app, corresponding to the five phases of water substance:

Compressed Water, Saturated Water, Water-Steam Mix, Saturated Steam, Superheated Steam

Phase selection is made by clicking at one of the Phase Selectors. The phase clicked will be highlighted to indicate the selection made.

The default phase selection is Water-Steam Mix.

2. Select a Unit System:

When the app starts, the default Unit System selected is “US”. Click at this “US” button, you will be able to select from three predefined unit systems: US, SI, METRIC, and Custom units.

When you make a selection, the corresponding units will be shown in the app’s top 2nd row.

 and followed by property name and value

4.Click Find button

followed by properties you want to solve for.
